Humanitarian aid after devastating earthquakes in Afghanistan
On August 31, 2025, a severe 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan, particularly in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces. According to current figures as of September 1, approximately 800 people were killed and nearly 2,800 injured. Three villages were completely destroyed, and rescue teams are fighting against time in difficult terrain.
Why support is needed now
The affected region is very remote, infrastructure has been damaged – rescue workers urgently need support and the survivors must be cared for.
Afghanistan is already in a dramatic humanitarian crisis: declining international support, high levels of financial poverty, and limited accessibility for women.
International support is still pending – those affected now depend on our solidarity.
Our goal: to provide timely, effective support to those most urgently needed. To this end, we are in close contact with local colleagues. This makes it possible to provide survivors with medical assistance, food, water, or emergency shelter.
