Five years after the Taliban returned to power, the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan continues to deteriorate. Millions of children still lack reliable access to education, and girls are banned from attending secondary school. Poverty is deepening, opportunities are disappearing, and the humanitarian crisis continues unabated.
At the same time, international attention is fading. Afghanistan is disappearing from the headlines—and as attention declines, so do donations and funding.
But just because the world is talking less about the crisis doesn’t mean it is over.
Now more than ever, Afghanistan needs sustained solidarity. With your support, we can continue working alongside our local partners to keep education accessible, create new learning opportunities, and ensure that girls are not left behind.

Access to education is not a given in Afghanistan. We are continuing to advocate for it, especially now.
The impact of your donation
Every contribution brings us one step closer to our goal. Together, we can make this possible:
€ 5,000 can provide around 90 girls who are currently unable to attend school with access to alternative learning opportunities.. In safe learning spaces, they can continue their education, connect with others, and receive educational support.
With €10,000, an additional 300 children and their families can receive psychosocial counseling and support, as well as individualized assistance, when the emotional strain of the ongoing crisis becomes too much to bear.
€15,000 can also provide 130 girls with training in computer skills and digital learning. This enables them to continue their education from home after sixth grade, even when they are denied access to secondary school.
We stay – with your support
When the Taliban returned to power in August 2021, one thing was clear to us: This is not the moment to leave.
Instead, we stayed in Afghanistan and expanded our work together with trusted local partners. Together, we continue finding ways to reach children despite the many restrictions – especially girls who have been excluded from formal education.
The denial of education only deepens the crisis. Without access to learning, children have fewer opportunities to earn a living and build independent futures. At the same time, the risks of child labour, child marriage, exploitation and violence increase significantly.
To ensure that children—and girls in particular –can continue learning despite these challenges, they need people who stand by their side.
